On Monday, 13th December, our class went on a trip to the theatre in Rüsselsheim. We were accompanied by Mr Elbert and our class teacher Mrs Schwan.
At first, we met at school in the morning and did out regular covid test. After that, we walked to the train station. We had to change once and arrived at the theatre after a short walk.
We watched the traditional play “A Christmas Carol”, written by Charles Dickens in 1843, in English. The lesson of the story is that you should be generous, help others around you and make the best of a situation, no matter how miserable you think you are, especially on Christmas – and we think everybody will remember this.
There were several other classes around our age to see the play. Since we had already read the story in class, it was easy to understand, and during the play we also learned some new words. It was a little confusing but also impressive at the same time how the few actors managed to play multiple roles.
Either way, we were well entertained, got to laugh in some funny scenes. We even had fun on the walk to the theatre and back as we talked to each other. No one was distracted by their phones because we weren’t allowed to use them.
We had never done a trip like this before and we hope we’ll be able to do it again because all of us really enjoyed it. With this in mind, we wish everybody a merry Christmas and a wonderful new year!
